How to Get Blood Out of Clothes
Blood is a protein stain, so hot water cooks it into the fibre permanently. Cold water, salt and enzymes are what actually work, in that order.

Sweat stains are antiperspirant aluminium bonded to sweat protein, which is why bleach makes them worse. The two-stage treatment that actually reverses them.
To remove sweat stains, pre-treat the area with an acid such as white vinegar or lemon juice to dissolve the aluminium salts, rinse, then soak in oxygen bleach and wash in the hottest water the fabric allows. Chlorine bleach on a sweat stain reacts with the protein and sets the yellow permanently, which is the single most common mistake.
Sweat itself is nearly colourless. The yellow-brown mark under the arms is a compound of aluminium salts from antiperspirant, sweat protein, and skin sebum, oxidised over time and baked in by dryer heat. The stiffness you can feel in the fabric is the aluminium. This is why a treatment aimed at the protein alone, or the oil alone, only ever half-works.
On colours you are usually fighting salt rings and odour rather than yellowing. Soak in cool water with enzyme detergent for an hour, then wash normally. Skip the oxygen bleach on anything deeply dyed unless you have tested an inside seam first.
Silk and wool cannot take enzyme detergent, which digests protein fibres as readily as protein stains. Use the vinegar stage, a wool-safe detergent, and cool water only. Elastane blends should not go near chlorine bleach at any concentration.
Chlorine reacts with the protein in sweat residue and produces a yellow compound that bonds to the fibre. Use oxygen bleach, which brightens by oxidation without that reaction.
Run the full two-stage treatment and expect to repeat it. Old stains have oxidised, so allow two or three cycles before deciding the garment is finished.
Vinegar dissolves the aluminium component, which is roughly half the problem. On its own it will lighten the mark; combined with an enzyme and oxygen bleach stage it removes it.
Usually, but only with a long oxygen bleach soak of four hours or more after the acid stage. Dryer heat bonds the residue, so a short treatment will not reach it.
Aluminium residue leaves a stiffened patch that catches light even after the colour has gone.
Photograph the shirt buttoned and laid flat rather than on a hanger, where the underarm gathers and casts its own shadow. Sellers weighing repeated reshoots against tooling care about cost per image far more than about any single shirt.
