What The New Black does
The New Black is a low-cost AI fashion imagery tool with credit packs from $5 for 40 credits and a hard 1K output ceiling. That ceiling is the defining constraint: Amazon recommends 2000px and Shopify recommends 2048x2048, so output goes on a listing only after upscaling elsewhere.
Where it is useful
Concepting and internal review. At roughly 12 cents per generation you can iterate freely on styling and composition ideas before committing to a production tool. Treating it as a sketchpad rather than a production pipeline is the right frame.
Test results
Fidelity was below the leaders and the resolution cap made careful evaluation of fine detail impossible. Model consistency across a batch was weak. None of that matters much for the concepting use case; all of it matters if you try to publish.
